Think outside the box

As part of the 中3 English class, students were asked to look at these four boxes on the whiteboard. They were given simple instructions with no explanation - "Use them,"
中３の特別な英語の授業で生徒たちはホワイトボード上のこれらの４つのボックスを見るように言われました。 説明もなく、「これを使って」という簡単な指示を与えられました。

The students all came up with different uses of the boxes. At first, they were a little confused about what to do with such little explanation, but then they allowed their creativity to take over.
生徒たちは皆、箱のさまざまな使い方を考え出しました。 最初は、説明が少ないのでどうすればよいか少し戸惑いましたが、その後は創造力を発揮するようになりました。

This incredibly simple activity has two main goals. First, we all have different perspectives. We can all see four boxes but how I see them and the person next to me sees them may be different. There are different perspectives for the same thing. This is important to remember as the students deal with local and global issues.
このとても単純なアクティビティには 2 つの主な目的があります。 まず、私たちは皆、異なる視点を持っています。4 つの箱を見ることができますが、私と私の隣の人ではその箱の見え方が異なる可能性があります。 同じものに対してもさまざまな視点があります。生徒が地域的および世界的な問題に取り組む際に、これを覚えておくことが重要です。

Second, what makes the boxes different is individual creativity. We are all creative, but we may not be using it often enough. As Pablo Picasso famously said, "“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” The current topic in class is how creativity at work is an important skill. Out Seitoku students are becoming more aware of the necessity of this skill and trying to improve their knowledge and ability to "think outside the box".
次、ボックスを他とは違うものにするのは、個人の創造性です。皆、クリエイティブですが、それを十分に活用できていない可能性があります。パブロ・ピカソの有名な言葉にあるように、「子供は皆芸術家だ。問題は、大人になっても芸術家であり続けるにはどうすればよいかだ。」 現在の中3の授業のテーマは、仕事における創造性がいかに重要なスキルであるかということであり、成徳の生徒たちはその必要性をより認識し、「既成概念にとらわれずに考える」知識と能力の向上に頑張っています。
